XISC boasts excellent scientific personnel of over 4100 for R&D, among which more than 130 are professional researchers and 118 with doctor or master degrees.
Keeping pace with international leading metallurgical technology, XISC has developed seven technologies as clean steel production, micro-alloying, controlled rolling and controlled cooling, heat treatment, high-precision flatness control, DQ ultrafast cooling control and large reduction rolling, aiming at production with high purity, ultra-fine grain, high precision surface and zero defect.
XISC has one physical and chemical testing center with national laboratory accreditation as well as a welding service team of the national masters of welding skills and doctors of materials engineering. Equipped with a welding laboratory especial for R&D, XISC can provide professional welding service for users.
In recent years, XISC has been awarded 161 national patents, 70 of which are patents of invention and applied to many national major projects.

XISC structural steels for hull and offshore platform have been approved by nine recognized classification societies such as ABS, GL, DNV, LR, KR, CCSA and BV. The plates for deep-sea platform are granted with certificates of En10225 and API.
Pressure-vessel and boiler steel plates have been certified by Lloyd's PED and TUE(AD2000).
